Healthy Kids (HK) is a program to improve the health and health literacy of students in traditional and charter schools as well as those who are being home schooled. HK encourages the cooperation of students, parents, teachers, other mentors, school nurses, and schools. (See the diagram.) It is offered on the Internet without charge by Wickenburg Healthcare Alliance (WHA), an Arizona non-profit corporation. Printed copies of HK materials are available at modest cost on the Health Education Publications link on the WHA website, www.wickenburghealth.net

The HK Health Education Program is provided at four levels (grades)-- K, 1-3, 4-8, and 9-12. The Program contains 16 parts each of which has assignments and learning opportunities in Reading, Vocabulary, Lessons, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Writing, Individual Health Projects, Being Responsible, and Healthcare Treatment. Parts include Healthcare Careers and The Healthcare System. WHA supplies some lesson plans, reading materials, and other program information for each Program Part; criteria for self-evaluation by students and format and suggestions for Individual Health Projects and Science Experiments.

Because of their importance in keeping kids healthy, Teachers, School Nurses, and Parents all have their own HK Home Pages with special features for them.

Kids' Page This feature includes a Health Tip, Questions (from students) and Answers (from healthcare providers), Medical Stories and Experiences, and Jokes and Riddles. Students can participate by submitting questions, stories, and humor.
