Getting Started in the Healthy Kids Program

One of the first things to be done is to determine your school’s baseline School Health Index (SHI).  The SHI is a measure of your school’s performance on key health factors.  Determining your baseline SHI enables you to measure your progress.  Additional information about the SHI is on the School Program Administrator Page.

Having a Health Fair for the students in your school is a good way to get HK started at a school.  Information about organizing and conducting a Health Fair at your school is on your School Page.

Some of the HK website features will be difficult for children not able to read. Use of mentors from higher grades to assist the non-readers may be useful in some situations.
